5 Tips to Help You Wake Up on Time

If you are a night owl and find waking up on time in the morning a challenge, here is some good news! You can learn to love waking up in the mornings. The good thing is, nothing is fixed in stone.

Just making small changes to some routines can give a boost to your energy and mood. Here are 5 tips to help you wake up on time.

How to make it easier to wake up?

1. Your Alarm Clock

You may oversleep due to the snooze function on your alarm clock. Turning on the snooze and being able to reach your alarm clock easily gives you a security net and so may encourage you to sleep a little bit more.

The solution is to place your alarm clock out of reach from your bed. Getting out of your bed to get rid of the annoying beep helps to sync your body clock on the time to wake up. Getting up from your bed helps make you more awake.

2. Do Not Reach for Your Phone

It may be very tempting to reach out for your phone as soon as you wake up. Looking at news and social media or emails on your phone at the start of the day can derail your whole day. Aim to start the day fresh in mind instead of clogging information into your brain the first thing in the morning.

Lying in bed and checking your phone also sucks time away from your morning routine. It could cause you to be late for work and to spend extra time lazing on bed. If you can find extra time in the morning, opt instead for a routine that clears the mind and keeps you grounded, such as light exercises, or meditation.

3. Let In the Sunlight

Sunlight is a natural signal to our body to wake up. You can either sleep with the curtain opened to let the sunlight in when the sun rises. Being awakened by the sunlight is better than being jarred awake by a noisy alarm clock. Or, you can draw your curtains open after switching off your alarm clock upon getting up from your bed. If it is dark outside, turn on your table light to help you wake up.

4. Reward Yourself

Create a reward system to encourage you to wake up on time in the morning. For example, when you manage to get up on time, treat yourself to your favourite breakfast. Or you can do something you look forward to such as wearing your new outfit or going for a walk in the park. On the contrary, if you do not wake up on time, you can deny yourself of wearing the outfit you love or having that sumptuous breakfast.

5. Get a Boost of Caffeine

There’s nothing like giving yourself a boost with caffeine in the morning. Caffeine pumps up serotonin and dopamine in your brain, known to boost your mood and spike your energy levels. It also helps you concentrate better. What if you are not a coffee drinker? You can still get the caffeine boost with a cup of black or green tea.
